In the morning, your guide and driver will greet you at the hotel. You'll be taken by minivan to a location near Amizmiz Dam, some 45 kilometers southwest of Marrakech. We'll start our ride when we've checked our bikes and gear. We'll begin our trek on rather flat terrain before gradually ascending to Taghenchoute. From here, we zigzag up to the Kik plateau, which offers a breathtaking view of the Atlas Mountains and Jebel Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak at 4167 meters. The Kik Plateau is stunning all year, changing hues with the seasons, from the numerous shades of spring greens to the golden yellows of summer, the russet reds and browns of autumn, and the immaculate white of winter snowfall on the mountains. Our cycle takes us through terraced mountainside communities and indigenous Berber towns, quickly dropping into Asni from height. If you choose to keep going, we can continue for the last 14 kilometers on tarmac, landing in Imlil. If not, we put our bikes onto the 4wd and proceed to Imlil, where we'll spend the night in a local guesthouse.
We start the day's ride in the foothills of Mount Toubkal, ascending the difficult Tizi n'Tamatart at 2230 meters. From atop this high mountain pass, we may enjoy breathtaking views of the High Atlas, which is frequently snow-capped and always spectacular. We'll continue on a dirt road that winds down through the valley, overlooking the deep riverbed (wadi) and terraced mountainsides scattered with towns that appear to dangle precariously. We'll spend the night in Asni, where the trip ends, with a welcome dinner and rest in a local lodge.
Today we put our skills to the test, beginning with a short warm-up ride on level terrain and then pushing ourselves on the rise to Tadmant Pass, at 1800 m. This is a lengthy and fairly difficult journey. We will be rewarded for this difficult ascent with spectacular views of the entire region, from the northern plains to the huge Atlas mountains. Our path heads east towards the lovely Ourika Valley. Our day concludes here, and our team will collect our belongings and transport us the short distance back to your Marrakech lodgings. End of 3-Day Atlas Mountains VTT Tour.
